THE ALMOND BLOSSOM RAILWAY

Un Pequeño Ferrocarrile de Vía Estrecha - A Tiny Estate Railway Of A Very Narrow Gauge
ABR No:2 ELECTRIC SPEEDER

The ABR Speeder resulted in a chance purchase in 2007 of an abandoned project by Frank Sidebottom. The motor bogies had come from Roger Greatrex and the electronic controller from Parkside.

The chassis and bogies were given a new colour scheme.

After a great deal of deliberation a sit-astride Speeder was constructed in timber having first reinforced the chassis with steel angle and square section.

The new electric Speeder built in Bournemouth arrived on the ABR early October 2008 after a very brief visit to the PTVF club track in Brussels where the 7.25" Society AGM was held. Unfortunately the Speeder could not run due to loading gauge problems which would have resulted in damage to the tram.
As the new carriage shed at the ABR did not yet have any doors we had to off load the Speeder into the workshop. This meant constructing a temporary track.

The Speeder takes to the rails on the ABR for the first time in June 2010 with grandson, driving under the carefull attention of his mother.
